Thank you for visiting my web page to learn more about me and what I do as a mediator. If you should have any questions after reviewing the website, please contact me directly. You can elect to attend mediation with or without an attorney. In either circumstance, we will meet on an informal basis where open communication is encouraged and full resolution or settlement of your issues remains the goal of the mediation. Again, I look forward to working with you to resolve your outstanding issues. Sincerely, Deborah Beard
I have been certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a family mediator. This qualifies me to meet with husbands and wives who are going through the divorce process, or meet with former husbands and former wives who have post-divorce issues. The issues can be multiple and extensive or can be limited to just a few matters.
However, they generally all deal with matters that occur in a family setting, which can include:
As a Mediator, I am not an advocate for either party or for a particular position. Instead, my role is as an impartial participant. I will remind and encourage each of you that the final decision making process and the outcome belongs to you. This is especially important as you work together towards developing an agreement that will play a major role in your lives, often for many years in the future.
Although I do not provide legal advice in the mediation setting, I do provide guidance with helping to create and draft agreements that are acceptable to both of you. Mediation, which is one type of dispute resolution, is an opportunity for you to work on difficult matters in a fairly cooperative fashion and forum. Your whole family benefits, financially and emotionally, when you are able to resolve your families disputes through cooperation rather than litigation.
